Kemper Art Museum members and WashU faculty, staff, and students are invited to be among the first to view African Modernism in America, the first major traveling exhibition to examine the complex connections between African artists and US patrons, artists, and cultural organizations, amid the interlocking histories of civil rights, decolonization, and the Cold War.

The member & WashU preview will be followed by a panel discussion on collecting and exhibiting modern African art in Steinberg Auditorium at 5:30 pm and the public opening from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
