The Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum is committed to ongoing research on the provenance, or ownership history, of objects in its collections. In 2003 the Museum became an inaugural participant in the American Association of Museum's Nazi-Era Provenance Internet Portal, a registry of objects in U.S. museum collections that may have changed hands in Continental Europe during the Nazi era (1933–1945). Provenance research remains a priority at the Museum, and collections information is updated regularly on the NEPIP website.
