Stezaker Unmasked: Writing and Art-Making Workshop

April 11, 2012
Kemper Art Museum

The word “persona” originally comes from a Greek term meaning “mask.” Using Stezaker’s Mask series as inspiration, the writing portion of this workshop will investigate just how one crafts a persona when writing poems. Following the poetry exercise, participants will construct their own Stezaker-inspired collages incorporating words and phrases from their poems and additional themes found in the artwork.

Led by local collage artist Maria Ojascastro and Eileen G’Sell, instructor of English at Washington University and publications assistant at the Museum, this free workshop will last for two hours. Space is limited; please contact Allison Taylor at or call 314.935.7918 to make your reservation.
