Join Assistant Curator Dana Ostrander for an interactive tour of Reframing the 19th Century, featuring works from the Kemper Art Museum's permanent collection and special loans from Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and the John and Susan Horseman Collection.
The tour will explore Native and settler histories that underlie early 19th-century landscape paintings, as well as the impact of the French Barbizon style on American artists, including the African American painter Edward Mitchell Bannister. Featured artists include George Caleb Bingham, Frederic Edwin Church, Eastman Johnson, and Winslow Homer, among many others.
After the tour, enjoy complimentary coffee and pastries with fellow members.
