Ideas of reproduction, transformation, and wide distribution were central to Duchamp’s artistic practice. Focusing on some of his key artworks, including the readymades, the Rotoreliefs, and the Boîte-en-valise, this discussion examines Duchamp’s embrace of replication as a pointed means to rethink the work of art while undercutting accepted notions of originality and authenticity.
