Join us to celebrate the opening of the first career survey of Katharina Grosse's studio paintings
Katharina Grosse is internationally celebrated for her large-scale in situ paintings that range across built and natural environments. On view September 23, 2022–January 23, 2023, Katharina Grosse Studio Paintings, 1988–2022: Returns, Revisions, Inventions is the first major survey to focus on Grosse’s studio-based paintings. We invite you to experience blotches, streaks, swaths, drips and mists of color; complex layers of paint; sweeping movements; and fluid, abstract forms. Each of these canvases is a fragment of a more expansive project. Together they visualize a multiplicity that is simultaneous and that encourages the perception of difference. Painting for Grosse is a model of how to act and be in the world.
