Louise Lochhead Luthi earned a bachelors degree in printmaking and art history from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1971. She went on to study printmaking at Yale, where she completed a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1973. Luthi accepted a position at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, where she established a printmaking studio and taught drawing, printmaking, and design for ten years. She later embarked upon a career in secondary school education.
Luthis work is represented in the collections of Washington University in St. Louis, Purdue University, and Fukuoka Womens College in Japan, as well as in ten United States embassies.
