Berlin-based artist Julian Rosefeldt will examine the implications of his visually arresting film installation American Night (2009), which draws upon the film conventions of the Western and, by a restaging of fundamental motifs, deconstructs the power of the mythology of the Western in order to generate an interrogation of recent American history and current political operations. Rosefeldt will examine this work within the context of his other films, all of which explore the tension that exists between our desire to establish comprehensive forms of order and disorder.
